This restaurant is truly a star in Iowa City restaurant landscape. The food, the presentation, the friendly owners and staff, and the affordable prices will have you coming back again and again. We discovered this little restaurant upon the recommendation of several of our neighbors. After hearing the name repeated, we knew we had to give it a try. Boy, are we glad we did! When we walked in, we were welcomed warmly by the staff. The owner and his wife also alternate at the counter. Their pride in their establishment shows in the manner in which they treat their customers, both old and new. We ordered two savory lunch crepes and a dessert crepe, as well as their house-made mint tea to wash them down. The tea was excellent. So flavorful that no sweetener was needed. The refreshing sweetness of the mint was more than enough. After ordering, we were quickly seated, even though the restaurant was packed upon our arrival. Not long after, our savory crepes arrived. The presentation was lovely. These were just crepes folded in half and tossed on a plate. They were intricately folded in a manner to appeal to our visual senses. I ordered the Roma, a delicious crepe packed with spinach, sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese, turkey (it comes with chicken but they graciously substituted turkey for me), and drizzled in a kind of pesto ailoli. It was incredible. Every bite was perfect. Truthfully, I was originally worried because sometimes sun dried tomatoes can overwhelm a dish, but not these! They complemented the dish without over powering it. Hubby ordered the daily crepe special which included asparagus and turkey bacon with cheese. He loved it. He had never tried a crepe before and was impressed. As we left, he told me he knew we would be back often. Sadly, the asparagus crepe will not be on the menu long because asparagus is going out of season in Iowa, but we will be looking forward to its return next summer! After our plates were cleared, our dessert crepe, the Valentin, arrived. Again, the presentation was flawless, beautifully cut and arranged with dusting of powdered sugar and thin sliced strawberries on top. The inside featured creamy, chocolately nutella with thin strawberry slices layered in. So yummy, I'm practically drooling as I type. And, the icing on the crepe...reasonable prices.

I've never had a crepe from here that I didn't like! The classics like Valentin and Money Treat provide that Nutella goodness you want in a crepe. The savory options are excellent also! They have also upgraded to booths, which I prefer much more than the tables they had previously. The owners are usually working, so this place has a great local vibe. Every IC native should eat here at least once.

atmosphere and service is great. food is awesome. Since this is my first time here I asked them to recommend. The only one I remember is Roma. But they are all great. Very nice crepes

What a delight to stumble across this great little cafe on a trip to Iowa City. The biggest dilemma was decided which of the numerous crepes to try. The three of us ordered different ones to have a sampler. My only hesitation on giving this five stars is the seating capacity, but the food is certainly a high scorer with our party.

One of the best authentic restaurants in iowa city, if not Iowa. The atmosphere here is so good. If you like French cuisine, especially crepes go here ASAP !

Really tasty crepes if they're made by the owner. Sometimes he has students working there who have no idea what they're doing. Once it literally took 45 minutes to get a single crepe from a student apprentice. It'll probably take two to fill you up if you have a man size appetite. Get one savory and one sweet

Most of the time when I review a restaurant, I incorporate the experience into my rating. That includes the ambiance, the mood, often the clientele. Those things during my visit to Crepes de Luxe were awful. Between crying babies and obnoxious, imbecilic college girls (Note: This is not a slight against only college females; in this town, inanity knows no gender bounds), I could not leave quickly enough. I even left behind a mug half full of coffee (though no loss there, as I'll explain below). But the staff was pleasant and friendly. The restaurant itself, though quite small inside, was fairly charming. And, most importantly, the food was great. I tried the Ratatouille crepe, which has caramelized peppers, onions, and eggplant, plus mozzarella cheese. The crepe comes with the sides folded in, making the dish into the shape of an octagon (or hexagon; I ate it too fast to count). There were a few spinach leaves in the middle, where the vegetable innards were displayed for the eater's delight. And pesto was drizzled on top. I have not had too many crepes before. But this one was just as good as the others. The coffee, as mentioned above, was forgettable. It was no better than diner coffee; but diners that serve this coffee make it better, and the coffee just fits better in that setting. If you don't know what I mean, you haven't truly been to a diner, at least not a good one. (And no, Bluebird Diner does NOT count. Though it has better coffee, as it should because it is not a diner.) So Crepes de Luxe was not the modern, hip, espresso-serving, indie-rock-music playing, plenty-of-available-seating having crepe place I visited in Madison, Wisconsin. Not even close. But the crepes are darn good. I may be tempted to return to try a sweet crepe; the special today, The Royale, sounded pretty damn tasty. But maybe I'll call ahead and get it to go. Or I'll go during Spring Break when it should be empty. Or I'll wait until the summer when downtown is deserted. Or I just won't go at all. If not, I'll at least recommend this place to my crepe-loving friends who have perhaps a higher tolerance for others than I do.

Excellent experience. My wife and I and our 6 and 8 year old sons stopped for a Father's Day treat while heading through Iowa on Interstate 80. After much protest from my oldest, he tried ours and loved all of them. I ate the Ratatouille (eggplant, zucchini, onions, spinach and more) and the cinnamon swirl, my youngest had the monkey crepe, and my wife had the special (with asparagus, turkey aioli, pesto...)All were fantastic! And great coffee and friendly service too.

So comfortable and cozy atmosphere. People are so kind. If you are in Iowa City, you must try here.

This is one of the best places you can eat in Iowa City. There are sweet and savory crepes and they are all just delectable! I have tried just about every single type of crepe here now and I have never been disappointed! The staff are incredibly kind and add to the charm of the place. And to top it all off the prices are incredibly reasonable. I'd recommend the L'Ocean and The 'S'mores crepe to start out with... But really you can't go wrong.

I love crepes, this place is about the only place I have seen in Iowa that has several choices for crepes! The chef is from Morocco and really has mastered the art of making crepes. I like getting two crepes, one savory and one sweet. Kinda like having an entree then desert. Can't go wrong with this method. I tried the herb chicken, it was really good. Every bite was delicious. Has a real nice flavor to it. Then for the sweet I had the monkey treat, which is bananas and hazelnut spread. It was a nice way to finish off our meal. It was hard to choose this one because they have many great choices that can sway you either way. I really want to try them all, so many great choices and they are all under $10. Which is a nice deal for the quality of the product. We are lucky to have a place like this in Iowa, this restaurant would do well anywhere.

This was the most lovely dining experience. The chefs are friendly and genuinely nice. I thoroughly enjoyed the savory Roma crepe. The ingredients are fresh and the variety of flavors in every bite is amazing. I always bring visiting friends here to impress them and it is always successful. The presentation is exquisite and the atmosphere is uniquely welcoming, colorful, and calm . My guest Kate says, "This is the greatest lunch in history." Definitely an Iowa City must.

Wonderful, unique little place with a great selection of both savory and dessert crepes. One of my favorite places for a small get-together with friends. Try it. I'll bet you will love it!

Excellent--perfect for lunch or dessert. It's a bit out of the way, but certainly within walking distance of campus.

Iowa City is blessed to have so many amazing restaurant options in town and Lux is a very unique option indeed. The menu itself is divided between sweet and savory options - most of which are crepes. I went with my significant other who has a sweet tooth and she ordered the Valentine while I ordered the more savory Lyon. After one bite of the Valentine I knew this dish was way too sweet for my own liking, however, if you are a member of the Nutella fan club this might be right up your alley. My crepe, the Lyon, was pesto, turkey bacon and spinach was enjoyable. The flavor combination really worked well and it was a sizable portion that left me satisfied. My only complaint about the dish was the amount of butter used. I, being a lover of carbs and butter, even felt it was a bit over powering by the time I was finishing my dish. Unfortunately, the restaurant itself feels very crammed and I was confused as to whether I should wait to be seated, as there are menus placed on the tables, or place my order at the counter. The owners, who appear to be husband and wife, do well for themselves running the restaurant. I would definitely go back and order another savory menu item.

Very delicious!! The place is very inviting and intimate, and the food is great. Both times I have been here I have been greeted with a smile and left feeling full. Now, the best part about the food is that it is so flavorful and that it is not heavy. You know how some places you eat at, you get that heavy full feeling? Not here. You are in an overall happy mood when you eat here. I definitely recommend it for a casual meal out.

Delicious food, interesting space, very nice owners/employees. Would have liked more of a drink selection but otherwise it was great.

So good! Peanut butter and jelly crepe was awesome! They make them one at a time so expect it to take a little while for the whole table'a food to show up. The staff was super friendly and did not seem bothered by my rowdy boys (which is rare!).

Food: Excellent taste. Fresh and made in front of you. As fresh as it can get. I loved the savory crepes more than sweet. Atmosphere: It is a small , neat and well designed place. Owners: Very nice, friendly and accomodating. Price: Appropriate Best for: Breakfast. Serving is small for lunch or dinner.

Amazing crepes, they are made with fresh ingredients. We balanced flavors and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

I read someone saying these crepes are skimpy. It is sad that people are expecting every food Americanized in terms of size; neglecting the fact you have to compromise on the taste in bigger portions. Anyway, the best food place in Iowa and the friendliest chefs and staff. My favorite is L'Ocean (salmon) with Moroccan mint tea.

Oh my god, I love these crepes. The Lyon with turkey bacon was absolutely delicious. Just for that single crepe, I would come back again. But don't let me stop you from trying everything, because I enjoyed all the crepes that my friends and I sampled. Don't let the size of these fool you either, you're getting a great deal for your money. I love the atmosphere of this little restaurant also. It's really inviting, and the staff is extremely friendly. You can tell they take pride in their crepes, they're not just interested in taking your money and leaving you unsatisfied. Might I add that Crepes de Luxe Cafe might have the greatest pesto I've had in Iowa City! Seriously, I wanted more and more. Secret ingredient must be crack, because I didn't think pesto could make my tastebuds melt.

Where do I start?! This place is AWESOME! My boyfriend and me went in, in the hopes it was awesome, since we've heard such good things. I got the le Reve (nutella, walnuts, coconuts, strawberries, banannas, and powered sugar) It was a sweet one, which was delish! My boyfriend got the le cochon (ham, swiss, aioli, pesto, spinach, and egg) His was awesome too! We both just shared each, since he got a savory and I got a sweet. I loved that you could watch the chef's prep, cook, and design the plates as well! Super nice staff, brings the food to your table, they asked us how everything was tasting after we had took a few bites, and cleared out plates when we were done. It is a very good price for how fresh everything is, and how MUCH you get for our money! Very clean, and I actually saw them wiping down the counters in between plates, which is very nice to see. They washed the produce off too. Definitely coming back over and over again! Love this place :) Go !!!!

I love crepes. I made a special trip into Iowa City as soon as I found out that this place exists. I should have checked the hours better, as they were closed when we arrived. Not to worry - they're in walking distance to a childrens play area and the library, so my daughter, friend and I made an afternoon of it! We arrived RIGHT at opening time and they were very apologetic that they weren't QUITE ready to serve us as things were still heating up. Normally this would have affected my review, but they were willing to let us sit and wait. We opted to walk around the block instead. We each had one savory and one sweet crepe. We definitely could NOT eat it all. The presentation on them was wonderful. They were more than happy to customize the crepe for my daughter to remove the things that she didn't like, so you don't have to order strictly from the menu either. Everything was delicious, we will be returning!

This place is totally cool. The people working were super friendly and I loved being able to watch them create our crepes right before our eyes! (It did make for challenging table conversation, though, because I was so distracted by the magic.) :) It's a small place and they are open for lunch, close for a bit, and then reopen for dinner. They have a limited menu (stick with what you do best is a good motto in my book) but we all found something we loved. I had a delicious (and beautiful) special autumn crepe that had pumpkin, apples, raisins, cinnamon and whipped cream- it was delicious. My husband and in-laws had savory crepes and they fully enjoyed theirs too. I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices. The drink situation was a little strange- they have a cooler with drinks you can purchase (no ice, it seemed) and then Tupperware pictures of cold water. I posted some pictures- check them out- Crepes de Luxe has amazing crepes.

Fresh ingredients in piping hot crepes, made while you watch.Very friendly owners who are happy to take off the menu requests. A cozy little niche.

First time I've been to a Creperie and I loved it. Had two of their specials and they were to die for. Both the savory and sweet crapes were delicious and had fresh ingredients.
